KEY POINTS:
Musician John Mellencamp has been criticised by the mayor of a Louisiana town at the centre of race protests.
Jena was the scene of protests last month over the trial of six black teenagers over a fight which followed the hanging of three nooses in a tree at a school in the town, a symbol of race killings.
After seeing the video for Mellencamp's Jena, take your nooses down, Mayor Murphy McMillin said: "the Mellencamp video is so inflammatory, so defamatory, that a line has been crossed and enough is enough".
Mellencamp said on his website: "The song is not written as an indictment of the people of Jena but, rather, as a condemnation of racism."
