MELBOURNE - The man accused of owning the marijuana found in Schapelle Corby's luggage claims he has been bashed by men who want him to give evidence in her appeal.
Sporting large cuts to his face, former prisoner Ron Vigenser said he was beaten in suburban Melbourne late last week with a lump of timber.
Vigenser, who claims to know nothing about the marijuana, was named by a former fellow inmate John Ford who has already testified in the Corby case.
Vigenser said the two men who bashed him told him he should testify to save Corby, "or else".
"I was in fear of my life. When they were talking, 'You should be over there'. I was in fear of my life," he said.
"From what I can remember it was: "Be a man, stand up, go over there and admit that you were the man and let the poor girl go'."
Vigenser told A Current Affair that ever since he was named as the owner of the marijuana he had been a target for abuse.
"I've been asked to leave restaurants, I've been abused in the streets and now I've been attacked."
Vigenser said he had gone into hiding because he was afraid of what would happen next.
