KEY POINTS:
Fugitive bikie Christopher Hudson, wanted over Monday's triple shooting in Melbourne, was last night in custody after surrendering to police.
Hudson handed himself in to police at Wallan, north of Melbourne, about 4.30pm local time and was arrested without incident, said Detective Inspector Stephen Clark.
"There's been some on-going negotiations today between a solicitor and a member of the crime department and as a result of those negotiations, he's handed himself in," Mr Clark said.
Hudson, 29, was expected to be charged with one count of murder and other offences, Mr Clark said.
The Hell's Angels member handed himself in after appeals by his parents to surrender peacefully in the wake of Monday's shootings in central Melbourne, in which 43-year-old solicitor Brendan Keilar died.
Philip Whitehead, lawyer for Hudson's father Terry, said the family was relieved Hudson had surrendered.
Meanwhile the woman who Mr Keilar was trying to help when shot, former model Kaera Douglas, woke from a medically-induced coma yesterday after emergency surgery for gunshot wounds suffered in the shooting. "She remembers everything, unfortunately," her brother Richard Douglas said outside the family home.
Ms Douglas' family paid tribute to Mr Keilar and to wounded Dutch backpacker Paul De Waard, who was also shot as he rushed to 24-year-old Ms Douglas' aid as she was assaulted.
In a statement, Ms Douglas' parents Linda and Jim Douglas described father-of-three Mr Keilar's actions as "selfless and heroic" and thanked both him and Mr de Waard, 25.
