A weighted package containing what appears to be a man's torso has been found on a beach near Sydney Airport.
A group of people cleaning up at Cook Park in Kyeemagh Beach near Brighton Le Sands found a suspicious package wrapped in a sheet today.
Forensic police officers were called to examine the find and a crime scene was established.
The item in the package has been formally identified as human and an investigation into the matter is now under way at Glebe morgue, police say.
A photograph of the package published online by Fairfax shows a shape resembling a torso inside a black zip-up bag, which appears to have rusty, circular weights attached to it.
