A Sydney pedestrian's arm has been amputated after he was hit by a driver who had been drinking.
Police say a woman was driving along Barrenjoey Road in the suburb of Mona Vale at about 8.50am local time yesterday when her car left the road and hit a parked car.
A 30-year-old man standing behind the stationary vehicle sustained serious injuries to his left arm.
Paramedics say his arm was amputated at the scene and he was then flown to Royal North Shore Hospital where he is now in a stable condition.
The 36-year-old woman driver, who recorded a blood alcohol reading of .097, was charged with mid-range drink-driving and will appear in Manly Local Court on September 20, reported the Sydney Morning Herald.
Her licence was suspended and her car taken by police for investigation.
