Australian man Faheem Khalid Lodhi has been sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in jail, for plotting a terrorist attack on Australian soil.
Radio Australia's reporter Naomi Woodley said Lodhi bowed his head, but showed no other signs of emotion as he was told he would spend up to twenty years in jail.
A Supreme Court jury in Sydney found Lodhi had been planning for a terrorist attack in October of 2003, when he made inquiries about the cost of chemicals, bought maps of the electricity grid and and had recipes for poisons and explosives.
One of the charges carried a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
In sentencing in Sydney, Justice Antony Whealy said while Lodhi's plans were at a very early stage, the effect of any bombing attack which may have been carried out would have meant that Australians would never again have felt safe from the threat of terrorism.
Lodhi will be eligible for parole in 2019.
