A man was arrested after scaling a 60m Belfast tourist attraction yesterday, causing disruption to the ride and to local traffic.
The BBC reported that the man reached the top of the Belfast Wheel around 6.30pm local time (5.30am today NSZT).
A number of people were in the pods on the viewing wheel when the incident occurred and the attraction had to be stopped.
Large crowds were reported to have gathered to watch the event unfold.
The UTV website said the man remained on top of the wheel for almost three hours before deciding to climb down.
Roads in the area were closed and firefighters had begun climbing the structure to rescue the man before he made his own way down, the BBC reported.
The wheel opened in 2007 and is located next to the Belfast City Hall.
