A man has been rescued following a 30 hour longboat ride in the Pacific Ocean, it has been reported.
Pitcairn Island man, Brian Young, had a wound needing urgent medical attention, but the nearest help was in Tahiti - more than 2000 km away, 3 News reported.
Two crews in longboats carrying Mr Young took him to the nearest airstrip on Mangareva Island, where they arrived this morning.
He was then flown to Papaete Hospital in Tahiti by air ambulance.
A wound on Mr Young's foot, sustained three weeks ago when he stood on a thorn, had turned toxic, the broadcaster said.
