A British man who killed his wife's kitten by putting it in a tumble dryer has been given a six-month prison sentence.
The court heard 42-year-old Philip Gannon put the six-month-old kitten in the dryer as an act of spite after his marriage to 43-year-old Jacqueline Hodson broke down.
Experts say the cat died from extreme heat.
Gannon of Salford in Greater Manchester denied the killing, but was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering at the same court last month.
He was handed a six-month custodial sentence and given a lifetime ban on keeping animals.
He has launched an appeal against the guilty verdict.
