BRISBANE - Robbers who forced their way into a Brisbane home inflicted head injuries on one of the occupants with a tomahawk, police said.
Two men entered a house in Milliner Street in Nudgee about 8pm (10pm NZ time) yesterday and demanded cash and property from the two male residents.
An altercation ensued during which a 24-year-old resident was hit on the head with a tomahawk, police said.
The intruders fled with money and several items of property, and were last seen running towards a group of people 50 metres up the road.
The injured resident was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for treatment for a minor head laceration.
No one else was injured.
The two intruders are believed to have had New Zealand accents, and were of muscular build, police said.
