NEW YORK - A 35-year-old Indonesian national was found dead of knife wounds at the Indonesian consulate in New York on Sunday.
The man, whose identity was not released, was found in the basement of the consulate at 5th Avenue and East 68th Street in Manhattan with a knife in his chest and wounds on his left wrist, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man had been living at the consulate for about a month and was awaiting a visa to return to Indonesia after having been stranded in the United States, according to local media.
Several knives were found at the scene near the body, and police were investigating. No arrests have been made.
