MEXICO - A surfer has died after being attacked by a shark off Mexico, according to Associated Press.
The news agency quoted Mexican officials as saying the surfer, from San Francisco, bled to death from a 38 centimetre wound in his right thigh.
Local authorities say the 24-year-old had been surfing at Troncones beach, near Ixtapa on Mexico's southern Pacific coast, when he was attacked by a grey shark. Another man with him was unharmed.
The Guerrero state Public Safety Department issued a statement saying the man had "wounds that reached from the hip to the knee, exposing the femur", AP said.
The man died after being taken to a local hospital.
