A man was run down by a car before crawling in next to the driver in a bizarre incident which has baffled police.
The unidentified man was walking along in Kilsyth, Melbourne, 36km east of the CBD, when he was wiped out by the white hatchback shortly after 4pm onWednesday afternoon.
Shocking CCTV footage shows the victim being flung through the air and landing on the footpath before strangely crawling towards the car and getting in the passenger door.
The car then drove off at speed with the victim inside.
Police believe the driver and man are known to each other and may have planned to meet.
Investigators hold concerns for the man's welfare as he has not reported the matter to police or sought treatment at any hospitals in the area.
The brazen incident was reported to police by a witness.
Police would like to speak to anyone who recognises the victim, the driver or the car involved, which is believed to be a white Toyota Corolla or similar with no registration plates.
