KEY POINTS:
LONDON - British police charged a London man on Wednesday with terrorism-related offences after he was arrested at Heathrow airport with a night vision scope and a computer hard drive containing a "poison handbook".
Sohail Anjum Qureshi, 29, was charged with three offences, including preparing to commit or help others commit an act of terrorism, and possessing items useful to terrorists.
Police said he was arrested at London's Heathrow Airport on Oct. 18 with £9000 ($25,891) cash and a hard drive which contained a document called the "Mujahideen Poison Handbook".
The police did not say whether he was a British citizen.
Police sources said their investigation covered possible terrorist acts abroad, not in Britain, and was not believed to be linked to any other probes.
Britain has been at a high state of alert, especially at its airports, since August when police said they had thwarted a plot to blow up airliners over the Atlantic Ocean.
