KEY POINTS:
LONDON - A man was arrested near Prime Minister Gordon Brown's London residence in possession of an imitation gun, but police said there had been no security breach.
A police spokesman said the man had approached an officer in a road near Downing Street, location of the prime minister's residence.
The officer spotted what he believed to be a gun in the man's car and he was detained. It turned out to be an imitation.
"The man is currently in custody. There were no security breaches in Downing Street," the spokesman said.
