Man arrested in triple stabbing

SYDNEY - A man is under police guard in Liverpool Hospital in Sydney's west after a triple stabbing incident in which a two-year-old girl died.

Police say they were called on Saturday night to a unit block at Canley Vale and found a 24-year-old woman in a stairwell with stab wounds to her chest and shoulder.

They entered the unit where they found the little girl unconscious with stab wounds. She was taken to the Childrens Hospital at Westmead where she died late on Saturday night.

The woman is in Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition, and the 32-year-old man has undergone surgery for stab wounds to his chest after being arrested.
