ADELAIDE - Tony Santic, the owner of three-time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva, is facing one of Australia's biggest divorce settlements after reportedly splitting with wife Christine.
Adelaide's Sunday Mail newspaper said friends had confirmed Mrs Santic had turned down a A$70 million ($79 million) settlement offer and was preparing to go to court.
In 2002, BRW magazine estimated the former Port Lincoln tuna fisherman's personal wealth at $200 million.
Makybe Diva won the Melbourne Cup in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
The couple have five grown children.
