- British climbers have escaped a grizzly bear attack in the Canadian Rockies, the Daily Telegraph reports. Greg Boswell has to prise apart the bear's jaws from his leg to flee the animal with companion Nick Bullock on Mt Wilson, Alberta. They posted pictures of the leg injury on Facebook.
- A dozen North Korean boats carrying 22 dead bodies have washed ashore since October, Reuters reports. Local speculation is that Kim Jong Un's desire to increase yield's is forcing fishermen dangerously far out in ill-equipped vessels on rough seas.
- Amazing photographs have appeared in Australia capturing the moment a cannibal crocodile attacked and ate a smaller rival. Sandra Bell caught the fight on camera at the Catfish Waterhole in Rinyirru National Park, North Queensland. "This is nature at its toothiest and clawiest!" said Queensland National Parks on Facebook, the Daily Telegraph reports.
- An American family says its home was destroyed by an exploding hoverboard. Jessica Horne of Louisiana bought it through an Amazon vendor for her 12-year-old son Hayden. Sparks began coming out of the scooter when it was put on charge and within minutes "the entire room was in flames," the Daily Telegraph reports. Thousands of dollars havebeen raised for the family.
