A brave Sunderland shopkeeper fought off a machete-wielding robber with bare hands and a stick when he was attacked.
Police have released CCTV images of Max Maqsood's ordeal in which he lost part of a finger. It shows the masked and armed man entering the shop and demanding money from the shopkeeper.
Maqsood quickly ran behind the counter and fought back unarmed before grabbing a stick.
After an exchange of blows the robber fled from the shop.
Maqsood said it was the first time he'd been attacked in his shop in 32 years.
