A macabre souvenir industry is emerging on Thailand's resort island of Phuket, with tsunami T-shirts and pictures of victims being snapped up by residents and tourists.
While the island's tourism industry has been hit by the calamity, photo shops, bookstores and souvenir shops are doing brisk business.
The Phuket Board Riders Club has printed dozens of tsunami shirts and distributed them to volunteers at the makeshift morgue at the Yanyao temple in Takua Pua.
"Magnitude 9.0. In memory of those who died in tsunami. TSUNAMI SURVIVORS. The deadliest natural disaster in modern history, December 26, 2004," was printed on the back of the black-collared shirt.
A one-hour VCD presents scenes in newspapers and television of tsunami-hit areas, and heart-wrenching interviews with villagers.
