For decades, visitors to Verona have stuck their love letters to the house where - as legend has it - Romeo wooed Juliet under her balcony.
Now, those tender messages are getting dumped in the rubbish.
Many of the notes are attached with chewing gum, a hazard for the medieval walls, which are being cleaned. Authorities are promising to provide plaster boards instead.
