Lord Archer free from prison

British author Lord Jeffrey Archer left prison last night after serving two years of his four-year sentence for perjury.

Archer, 63, was convicted of lying during his 1987 libel action against the Daily Star newspaper, which claimed he had hired a prostitute.

In a statement, Archer said he would not be giving interviews, but would address the Howard League for Penal Reform in September.
