MONROVIA, Liberia (AP) The government of Liberia has decided to burn a nearly 300-kilogram (655-pound) load of marijuana that was smuggled into the country from neighboring Sierra Leone by a member of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf's motorcade.
Information Minister Lewis Brown said that the burning will take place Friday under the supervision of the country's Drug Enforcement Agency.
Police officer Perry Dolo, a member of the presidential escort detail, and four others, including a man believed to be a Sierra Leonean military official, were arrested in connection with the smuggling of the drugs.
