A group of the world's leading scientists has called for an international ban on human cloning.
The Inter-Academy Panel on International Issues (IAP), which represents 80 of the world's leading scientific institutions, will present its case to the United Nations next week.
But the IAP believes a ban should not extend to therapeutic cloning which would be the result of stem-cell research.
