Two lawyers for a jailed blind Chinese activist who documented complaints of forced abortions by officials were beaten up while trying to visit him, another activist said.
Li Fangping and Li Jingsong were travelling from Beijing to Linyi to meet their client Chen Guangcheng, who had asked to see them, said Hu Jia, an Aids activist. "Their bus was stopped by two cars and about eight unidentified men boarded the vehicle and attacked the lawyers with iron rods."
Chen, his family, his lawyers and witnesses in the case have all been harassed, detained and beaten regularly by thugs in the past year.
