A Kiwi woman was inside the same hotel as the gunman when America's deadliest massacre began.
Stephen Paddock, 64, is dead after firing hundreds of bullets into a music festival crowd from the 32nd flood of the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas.
The New Zealand traveller, who doesn't want to be named, says her and her friends were leaving the hotel's casino when evacuations began and panic spread.
"We were rushed down to the basement and out the back door of the Mandalay. We managed to catch a cab and get out," she said.
"Everybody was moving quickly and word was spreading about what had happened."
