KEY POINTS:
WASHINGTON - A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck deep under the ocean northeast of Fiji, the US Geological Survey said today.
The quake struck 255km off Fiji's Ndoi Island in the Pacific Ocean at a depth of 407.8km at 8.52am local time on Tuesday (9.52am NZT), the USGS said.
There was no immediate statement from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre in Hawaii regarding the risk of a tsunami.
