LONDON (AP) No one can accuse Labour Party leader Ed Miliband of pretending to be hip.
The British opposition leader's musical choices on the Desert Island Discs radio program Sunday show his taste to be mostly mainstream.
He chose Robbie Williams "Angels" for its connection to his romance with
his wife and Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" because of his devotion to the Boston Red Sox, which has made the song its own.
He also chose songs by A-ha and Josh Ritter, Edith Piaf's "Je Ne Regrette Rien," and more esoteric songs, including Paul Robeson's rendition of the pro-union classic "Ballad of Joe Hill."
By contrast, David Cameron chose songs by Bob Dylan, Radiohead, and The Smiths when he was on the same show during his stint as opposition leader.
