PRISTINA, Kosovo (AP) A Kosovo court has set prison sentences for 10 ethnic Albanians found guilty of a committing a terrorist act when they attacked a Serbian police checkpoint.
The attack in 2012 was aimed at inciting conflict "to compel the international community to intervene," a mixed panel of local and European Union judges said Thursday.
The panel said the group defendants staged a highly organized attack on a police checkpoint in and ethnic Albanian area of southern Serbia.
Sentences ranged from 26 months to nine years. Charges included commission of terrorism, participation in a terrorist group and unauthorized use and sale of weapons, according to the indictment filed by an international prosecutor.
The EU helps Kosovo prosecute war crimes.
