A Kiwi and five Australians could be landed with a hefty fine after a bloody mid-flight brawl which caused their plane to be diverted.
New Zealander Lynmin Waharai was among the group who allegedly became embroiled in a drunken fracas on a Jetstar flight from Sydney to Phuket in Thailand, forcing the pilot to divert the flight to Bali in Indonesia.
News.com reported that the group will not face charges or other sanctions in Indonesia, however, the airline has not ruled out forcing them to pay for the disruption.
The cost of diverting a large commercial flight can stretch into the tens of thousands of dollars.
The website reported that three of the men had been flown to Melbourne, escorted by Jetstar officials.
