AH, the humble port-a-loo. It's great for music festivals, concerts and ... geopolitical summits of historic significance, apparently.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un reportedly brought his own personal toilet to yesterday's historic meeting with his South Korean counterpart, over fears South Korean spies could steal his excretions and gain insights into his health status, reports News.com.au.
"Rather than using a public restroom, the leader of North Korea has a personal toilet that follows him around when he travels," Lee Yun-keol, chief of North Korean studies at the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses, told the Washington Post.
"The leader's excretions contain information about his health status so they can't be left behind."
That's right. He's essentially protecting himself against a literal info dump. (Sorry.)
According to the South Korean news agency DailyNK, there's actually a customised bathroom built into his convoy of vehicles at all times.
"The restrooms are not only in Kim Jong Un's personal train but whatever small or midsize cars he is travelling with and even in special vehicles that are designed for mountainous terrain or snow," a source in South Pyongan Province familiar with Kim's Escort Command told DailyNK in 2015.
"There are multiple vehicles within the convoy so that people cannot tell which one he is in, and there is a separate car that acts as his restroom."
But during an interview with a Gold Coast radio station while he was Down Under for the Commonwealth Games, the Prince dismissed the charge.
"Oh, don't believe that crap. The very idea," he said.
Speculation has mounted in recent months over the state of the North Korean leader's health.
Kim is famous for excessively indulging in the finer things in life, reportedly preferring Swiss cheese, Cristal Champagne, Hennessy cognac and Emmental cheese.
In previous years, spy agencies have reported he binges on food and drink to cope with his constant fear of being assassinated.
His massive weight gain since taking power in 2011 has also been noted in the media.
Last month, Fox News reported that Kim may have been suffering from a range of conditions including gout, diabetes, high blood pressure, a sexually transmitted disease and psychological issues.
