Have the world's most dangerous criminals got talent?
An infamous high security psychiatric hospital in England is hoping to find out, staging its own version of TV show Britain's Got Talent and inviting notorious rapists and murderers to perform, the News of the World reports.
Broadmoor Hospital, home to criminals such as "Yorkshire Ripper" Peter Sutcliffe and "Stockwell Strangler" Kenneth Erskine, is holding "Broadmoor's Got Talent" in an effort socialise the inmates.
Posters for the contest have been stuck around the hospital - formerly known as Broadmoor Asylum for the Criminally Insane - featuring a logo based on the TV show's and the line, "Show us your skills and talents."
The poster says contestants must agree to the rules such as no swearing and: "No arguing with the judges! The judges' decision is final."
News of the World said the criminals would "have a go at murdering popular songs" and perhaps do some "jail-break dancing".
A spokesperson for Broadmoor confirmed to the News of the World website that the talent competition was taking place.
"One of the risks for people with mental illnesses is that they go into themselves and do not mix with people," he reportedly said.
"This competition is a way of getting them to go out and meet people."
