DARWIN - A jury has been shown a video of the outback crime scene where British backpacker Peter Falconio was allegedly murdered.
The half-hour police video, played at the Northern Territory Supreme Court trial into Mr Falconio's alleged murder, showed a bloodstain at the side of the Stuart Highway, and vehicle tracks leading to the orange Kombi owned by Mr Falconio and Joanne Lees.
Bradley John Murdoch, 47, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of 28-year-old Mr Falconio and not guilty to unlawfully assaulting Ms Lees, and depriving her of her liberty beside the outback highway in July 2001.
Ms Lees has told the court her boyfriend disappeared after he went to the back of the Kombi to speak to a man who had pulled them over on the side of the Stuart Highway four years ago.
She said she heard a loud bang, before she was attacked by a gunman.
The Northern Territory Supreme Court was today hearing from police involved in the investigation.
Alice Springs crime scene examiner Ian Spilsbury was explaining parts of the police video to the jury as it was shown.
The trial continues.
