BANGUI, Central African Republic (AP) An official says members of a disbanded rebel group have shot and killed a high-ranking judicial official in the capital of the Central African Republic.
Speaking on a radio program Sunday, Security Minister Josue Binoua said Modeste Martineau Bria, the director of judiciary services at the Justice Ministry, was killed in the capital on Saturday night by the former members of the Seleka rebel group, which overthrew ex-President Francois Bozize in March.
Binoua said three of the attackers were killed early Sunday as they resisted arrest and shot at security forces.
Former Seleka leader Michel Djotodia was sworn in as president in August. The following month, he announced the dissolution of Seleka, which has been blamed for widespread violence in the African nation.
