MANCHESTER: Two British police officers have been suspended for confiscating a sports car from its driver and then crashing it.
The driver of the turbo-charged Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII was arrested in Manchester in the early hours of the morning for suspected drink-driving and taken away - leaving two officers to mind the car while they waited for a tow truck.
However, they decided to take the 251km/h vehicle for a spin. They lost control and ploughed through two front yards before smashing into a wall and flipping the powerful sports car on its side.
The officers were found inside the wrecked car, one with minor injuries. No one else was hurt.
