Robert F Kennedy hopes his daughter-in-law can be installed as the deputy director of the CIA to investigate whether the agency had a role in the assassination of his uncle JFK, according to reports.
He also believes Fox Kennedy, who is married to his son Bobby Kennedy III, would be able to “get to the bottom” of the theory and reveal the CIA’s role in JFK’s demise, Axios reported.
Republican sources told the outlet that Kennedy is pushing for her to be appointed deputy to John Ratcliffe, who Trump has already named as the next CIA director – subject to Senate approval.
Fox Kennedy is a former CIA employee and has written a memoir about her experiences. She was previously married to Dean Fox, another CIA officer, while working undercover in Shanghai.
After their divorce, she remarried Kennedy’s son after they met at the Burning Man festival.
CIA-JFK theory gaining popularity again
The decades-old theory that the CIA either orchestrated or covered up the assassination has become popular recently among some Right-wing influencers, including the podcaster Joe Rogan.
Trump has pledged to establish a new commission on presidential assassinations, following two attempts on his life on the campaign trail earlier this year.
The review will re-examine and release papers related to the JFK assassination, he said in August, in a nod to Kennedy’s interest in the issue.
Some CIA officials are reportedly concerned about Fox Kennedy’s appointment because she did not submit her memoir, Life Undercover, to the agency for approval before publishing it in 2019.
