A jilted Malaysian bride is suing her groom for damages after he called off their wedding with a cellphone text-message just hours before the ceremony.
Norlida Abdul Rahman, 23, received the text from Hasmawi Hassan, a professional football player, less than 24 hours before the ceremony saying: "We were not meant to be together."
But Norlida decided to put on a brave face, and her wedding dress, on Saturday and carried on with the traditional wedding feast for 1000 guests at her family home, although her fiance did not turn up.
Her family spent close to 20,000 ringgit ($7510) for the wedding.
Norlida was quoted as saying: "I cannot describe the embarrassment it has caused me and my family."
