Jericho soon to be under Palestinian control

The West Bank town of Jericho and surrounding areas will be transferred to Palestinian control within the next few days - possibly as early as today - to be followed by the town of Tulkarm, a senior Israeli Defence Ministry official said.

The Palestinians' ability to prove they can halt terror attacks after the Jericho handover is a condition for transferring control over other West Bank cities, the spokesman said.
