KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) Police in Jamaica say authorities are investigating the killings of three suspected gang members by officers in unrelated incidents.
Police said in a statement Saturday that officers shot and killed a 31-year-old man in Kingston who is suspected in a killing earlier this year. Officers also fatally shot two other men in their 20s on Friday.
The Independent Commission of Investigations, which probes allegations of abuse by security forces on the island of about 2.7 million people, is looking into the killings.
The commission is handling roughly 1,600 cases of alleged abuses, with more than 60 percent of those cases involving allegations of fatal shootings, assault and shooting injuries.
