KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) A Jamaican police constable has been arrested for fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend at a marina popular with yachters.
An independent agency tasked with investigating abuses by security forces says 26-year-old Constable Lincoln McCoy was arrested and charged with murder on Wednesday.
The policeman allegedly met his ex-girlfriend at the Errol Flynn Marina in the northeast coastal town of Port Antonio. The relationship had recently turned sour and McCoy allegedly shot 21-year-old Jessica King before shooting himself.
The Independent Commission of Investigation says the woman was pronounced dead at a hospital. The officer survived after medical treatment.
McCoy was remanded into custody until Sept. 27 at a Monday court hearing. His lawyer made a bail application but it was denied.
