A lone gunman holding six crew members aboard a Canadian charter jet in Jamaica surrendered early today (NZT) after releasing his hostages unharmed. Police spokeswoman Camille Tracey said authorities disarmed the 20-year-old, described as "mentally challenged". The man forced his way past security check points to seize the CanJet Airlines plane. He released all 182 passengers and two crew members, but held the remaining crew members at gunpoint for another eight hours.
