KEY POINTS:
A mob fixer who intervened to stop another gangster harassing star England footballer Steven Gerrard was sentenced yesterday to more than 14 years in prison for his role in a robbery.
Gerrard's father Paul told the Lincoln Crown Court John Kinsella, 43, stepped in to stop George Bromley Junior, a gangster known as "The Psycho", from terrorising his son, and that he had "total respect" for the defendant.
Kinsella was convicted of stealing £41,000 ($102,000) worth of Easter eggs, potato chips and detergent after tying up a security guard.
