Underbelly star Matthew Newton has been arrested for breaching an Apprehended Violence Order taken out by his former girlfriend Rachael Taylor.
Newton, who played New Zealander Terry Clark (aka Mr Asia) in the Underbelly series, was arrested in Kings Cross, Sydney, on Tuesday afternoon for breaching the order.
The 34-year-old is alleged to have contacted Ms Taylor by phone over the weekend, which would breach a court order stipulating he must have no contact with her.
While not confirming Newton's identity, police said a 34-year-old man was charged with breaching an AVO and using a carriage service to menace or harass.
He was granted bail and is due to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on March 2.
