Italy and Germany sends fire aid to Portugal

Firefighting aircraft from Italy and Germany were sent to Portugal yesterday after the Government there said it could no longer control raging forest fires.

Portugal asked the European Union for help as fires were fanned by the country's worst drought for years.

So far, 11 firefighters and four civilians have been killed in the blazes.
