KEY POINTS:
Civilian deaths from violence across Iraq fell by 50 per cent last month from August, to the lowest level recorded this year.
Information provided by the Health, Interior and Defence Ministries showed that 884 civilians were killed in September, down from 1773 in August.
About a quarter of the number of civilians killed in August were the 411 people who died in massive truck bombings against the minority Yazidi community in northern Iraq on August 14.
The US military death toll in September was also the lowest monthly total this year, with 62 killed.
