Indonesia's former Foreign Minister, Ali Alatas, died yesterday, a week after suffering a stroke. He was 76. Alatas was the country's top foreign diplomat from 1988 until 1999.
He later served as Indonesia's permanent representative to the United Nations, and was an adviser to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
