Soldiers helped rescue villagers and helicopters evacuated people stranded by floods as monsoon rains continued to inundate parts of southern and western India.
Some 28,000 people across the western state of Maharashtra have been forced in recent days from flood-hit areas to higher ground. So far this year at least 382 people have died because of the monsoon.
