India yesterday test-fired its longest-range nuclear-capable ballistic missile, the Agni III, which can hit targets deep within China, a senior Defence Ministry official said.
The missile has a range of more than 3000km. Analysts said the test pushed India into a new phase in its long-term nuclear defence strategy, and meant that a missile with a capability of 5000km was a viable prospect.
