Solomon Islands: Tsunami prompts state of emergency
The Solomon Islands declared a state of emergency after a severe 8.1 earthquake and a tsunami struck, flattening villages causing widespread panic and killing at least 20 people with the toll expected to rise.
A New Zealand man form Porirua has been confirmed dead, while trying to save his mother from the tsunami.
A quake expert predicts a strong chance of more earthquakes to come and urges residents and rescue teams to be on alert.

Iran: Iran wants to solve row over sailors through diplomacy
"This issue can be resolved and there is no need for any trial," the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council said.
Iranian state radio yesterday reported that all 15 British sailors have accepted they illegally entered Iranian waters.
Britain's foreign office had no immediate reaction.

US: Landmark ruling against Bush in car emission case
By a 5-4 vote the Supreme Court has ruled that US environmental officials have the power to regulate greenhouse gas emissions that spur global warming.
