Boris Yeltsin died today, aged 76, in the Central Clinical Hospital as a result of a deteriorating cardio-vascular problem.
World leaders showered Yeltsin with tributes for bringing freedom and democracy to Russia after decades of totalitarian rule.
Critics say one of Yeltsin's gravest failings was to allow chaos that led to widespread disillusionment with democracy.

Nigeria: Ruling party candidate Yar'Adua wins poll
Umaru Yar'Adua of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner of a presidential poll rejected by the opposition and condemned by observers as a "charade".
Yar'Adua won with 24.6 million votes, far ahead of his closest rival, former army strongman Muhammadu Buhari, with 6.6 million.
The United States said the vote was "flawed" but stopped short of calling for it to be overturned.

Turkey: Warning of terrorist threat at Gallipoli
Australians and New Zealanders travelling to Gallipoli for tomorrow's Anzac Day services have been put on notice of possible terrorist attacks.
There is a "strong" poissibility of terror attacks in Turkey, a spokesperson for New Zealand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said.
People should take "sensible" precautions for personal safety in any areas frequented by large numbers of tourists.
